In New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD) research team has found the first oral bacterial evidence supporting the dispersal of modern Homo sapiens out of Africa into Asia. The team, led by Page Caufield, a professor of Cariology and Treatment NYUCD complete, found that Streptococcus mutans, a bacterium associated with dental caries, has evolved with its human host in a clear line that can be traced to a single common common ancestor that lived in Africa between 100,000 and 200,000 years.S. mutans is transmitted from mother to child and first appears in the mouth of infants up to two years. Caufield results in an article in the Journal of Bacteriology reported. In his analysis of the bacterium, Caufield used DNA and other biomarkers that scientists have used in
the human evolution towards a single African ancestor, the traditional day to describe how known.
