New measures to reduce smoking in the United States
A combination of increased excise taxes, smoking bans in the country and other measures to significantly reduce smoking rates in the United States, now ranging around 21 percent of the adult population, according to a new report by the Institute of Medicine. The first component focuses on strengthening the existing measures to fight against smoking to preserve and enhance the gains already made.* Increasing the federal tax on cigarettes substantially, and the promotion of taxes to achieve in countries with lower rates for greater parity in prices across the country and prevent interstate smuggling. * Spend $ 15 to $ 20 per person per year, revenues from higher taxes or other resources to fund control efforts in each state snuff. * The imposition of the ban on smoking in all nonresidential buildings, indoor settings nationwide, including restaurants, bars, shopping centers, prisons and health centers.
